Summary

The course follows on from the Bachelors in Electrical Engineering for Energy, Light, Automation, Medical Engineering and the Combined Course in Electrical Engineering in the field of Electrical Engineering and IT at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences, but is also open to students who have completed a degree in electrical engineering or a wide range of related courses such as mechatronics or technical computer sciences.

The profile of the Master course is distinguished by the communication of theoretical and practical specialist basics, method skills and the promote of entrepreneurial thinking. Particular profile characteristics include:

  • Mathematical/physical methods with a special focus on systems
  • Methods in electrical engineering and IT
  • Reinforcing of basics of business economics and human resources management
In addition, the general optional subject blocks allow defining of profiles in the following fields:

  • Medical engineering
  • Automation
  • Lighting technology

The part-time course is an innovative course as it is a university qualification which can be completed at the same time as working or completing vocational training. In addition to self-study phases, which form approx. 70% of the course, there are also regular on-site learning phases with required attendance, which amount to approx. 30%.

Target group

People working in (electrical) engineering fields who want to earn the qualification of Master of Engineering and in addition are aiming to achieve or build on a high managerial position. In addition, the Master qualification opens up new career paths for higher service and doctorates.
