Summary
The Bachelor’s degree course in Mechanical Engineering (B.Eng.) at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences offers a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, mechanics, materials science, CAD, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and control engineering.
The curriculum begins with core engineering principles in the first three semesters. From the fourth semester onwards, students can specialise in areas such as product development, manufacturing, plastics technology, mechatronics, automation or sustainable production.
Practical elements are integral: students apply theory through project work and/or an extended industry practice phase, culminating in a research-based Bachelor’s thesis and oral defense.
Graduates are prepared for roles in sectors such as product and system design, production engineering, manufacturing, additive production, mechatronics and automation. These are areas with a strong regional and international demand.
