Background

The cooperation between Swiss German University (SGU) Jakarta and South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences, Campus Soest, has been in place for more than 20 years and was renewed in 2025. The objective of this long-standing partnership is the exchange of students with the opportunity to obtain a double Bachelor’s degree – one Indonesian and one German degree.

Over the past decades, hundreds of students have already taken advantage of this study-abroad option. The program offers profound insights into a new culture, international university life, and intercultural exchange with students, faculty, and professionals.


Double Degree

This cooperation provides numerous opportunities to obtain a double Bachelor’s degree in two main fields:

  • Business Administration
  • Industrial Engineering

The curriculum includes a wide range of modules, covering information technology, business and management-related subjects, as well as specialized technical courses.

Students participating in the Double Degree program spend six months to one year at the partner university and attend three to four modules, which are currently offered in the summer semester. Optionally, students may extend their stay by completing an internship with one of the regional companies.

After successfully completing the courses abroad, students write their Bachelor’s thesis, which is jointly supervised by both universities.

Visit of German Students in Indonesia

In August 2025, 28 students and two professors from South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences (FH SWF) visited the SGU campus in Jakarta. They received a warm welcome and had the opportunity to attend a traditional dance performance as well as a coffee seminar.

Following the visit, SGU organized a conference entitled “Indonesia’s Way to Net Zero 2060”. The conference featured several informative contributions and concluded with an expert panel discussion.
