Student grants for international students in their final year of study (DAAD Programme STIBET 1)
The International Office at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences issues grants to international students in the final year of their studies from funds provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst or "DAAD" for short).
Objective:
The aim of student grants is to enable international students to concentrate on their final study phase and graduation by providing financial support in the last twelve months of studies.
Please note: Students receive the funding only once, up to and including the month of graduation, for a maximum period of 6 months.
Requirements:
- Must be a foreign national
- University entrance qualification obtained abroad (foreign student)
- Enrolled at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences and studies in a regular course (Bachelor's or Master's)
- Successful completion of a degree within one year
- Financial need
- Good academic performance
- Residence in Germany during the funding period (with the exception of mandatory stays abroad)
Sponsorship duration:
Up and including the month of graduation, for a maximum period of 6 months. The funding period is 01 September 2026 until 28 Februar 2027.
Sponsorship amount:
Grants are usually € 500 per month for students studying for a Bachelor's and for a Master's degree. Maximum of € 3.000.
Selection procedure:
A selection committee at the university decides on the awarding of scholarships based on the documentation submitted in accordance with the provisions of the DAAD and the International Office.
Selection criteria include the likelihood of graduation within one year, academic performance, as well as financial and social aspects.
The committee will only consider complete online applications on the Mobility Online portal, that means all required data is complete and all necessary documents are uploaded.
The decision of the selection committee is final. Notification of the acceptance and rejection of applications is performed in writing, and without the provision of justification. There is no legal claim to the scholarship or payments under the scholarship.

Applications are possible from 15 May to 15 June 2026 via MobilityOnline.
