Summary

The Research Master’s degree course in Applied Science in Technology, Economics and Society (M.Sc.) at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences is a full-time, research-focused postgraduate programme. Designed for high-achieving Bachelor’s graduates in disciplines such as agriculture, electrical engineering, informatics, mechanical engineering, life sciences, education sciences, business psychology or economics, the course emphasises application-driven research.

The curriculum comprises interdisciplinary modules, scientific foundations and specialised subject-depth, as well as a substantial research component divided into three research phases. The final semester includes a Master’s thesis and oral defense following a colloquium. Students develop an individual study plan in collaboration with their research supervisor and undertake intensive work within interdisciplinary teams.

Graduates are prepared for scientific and research careers in academia, at non-university research institutions and in industry R&D departments. The strong research orientation and collaborative training also prepare alumni for leadership roles in innovation management, entrepreneurship and interdisciplinary projects.
