New students, new program, new IMIS

Dear IMIS Alumni,
We hope you kept the IMIS program and FH SWF in pleasant memories and that your personal career developed as desired. Today we are happy to inform you that we are offering two new great options for further education, which are related to the IMIS program you have successfully completed, which could be of interest for friends and colleagues of yours.

Next to the IMIS program we established the ‘IMIS Online’ Professional Master’s program. IMIS Online is fully aimed at professionals and is designed in such a way that they do not have to give up their jobs but can study part- time and primarily online (also from outside Germany). Therefore, the total 90 credits are spread across 4 semesters, resulting in a reduced workload in the respective semesters. IMIS Online prepares students for leadership roles in a globalized economy.

However, sometimes it can be difficult to complete an entire course of study while working (even if it is aimed at working professionals), so we also offer the individual modules as certificate courses. The modules can be taken individually and the pace of study can thereby be adjusted by obtaining university certificates without having to take up an entire course of study. All modules completed as certificates can be credited towards the IMIS Online Master if one later chooses to finish the degree.

In case of any questions, please reach out to Jennifer Beckmann (+49 (0) 2921 378-3760, imis-online-info@fh-swf.de) who will be happy to provide you with further information to answer your questions

Please promote this program, as well as IMIS, among your networks!

We look forward to welcome colleagues and friends of our IMIS Alumni to our further education programs! Visit the IMIS Online website

IMIS Lighthouse

Lighthouse is a platform where we intend to enrich our students beyond their study limits. It is designed to prepare students for their future career prospects. Lighthouse is an evolving program and is building on the suggestions of the FH SWF community which includes students, alumni, and professors. We want to ensure the maximum use of university resources for the development of our students.

The six pillars (Gender Equality and Diversity, Family & culture, Career, Community, Research, and Study) of the Lighthouse have been created keeping in mind the extracurricular activities that might help students to improve their educational, personal, and professional life.

The Lighthouse team started working on the six pillars in October 2021 and during this time we have successfully performed eight workshops, three trainings, four info sessions, one webinar, one Alumni Talk, and one study support session. Each pillar of the lighthouse represents a platform and the type of opportunities it will create for students.

We are using different communication channels Moodle, Mensa Information board, or Instagram for Lighthouse depending on our reach and ease of student access. If you’re an Instagram user do not forget to follow us on lighthouse_soest.

The purpose of IMIS Lighthouse is to connect and engage students meaningfully with their fellow students and lead them successfully to their careers and also give them a sense of inclusion, belonging, and mental well-being in their chosen study environment. It is an ongoing process of learning and knowing the FH SWF community and their expectations from the institute for the Lighthouse team.

All together we want to build a place where students feel motivated, excited, inspired, and thrive to succeed.
