Application Procedures and Requirements

For admission to the Master’s program IMIS Online, applicants are required to prove the successful completion of a Bachelor’s program, their professional expertise, and their language skills.

Successful completion of a Bachelor’s program

  • of at least seven semesters with a volume of 210 credits or a diploma degree course in economics (business) or business informatics or a comparable degree course with an overall grade at least equal to the German grade "Good" (2.5) or the relative ECTS grade A or B,

OR

  • of a six-semester Bachelor's program with a volume of 180 credits in economics (business) or business informatics or a comparable degree course with an overall grade at least equal to the German grade "Good" (2.5) or the relative ECTS grade A or B, and
    • an additional qualification requirement defined by the examination board of the Master's program,
    • OR proof of relevant qualified practical professional experience from a subject-specific project for at least six months in addition to 12 months of practical professional experience.

Professional expertise

Proof of relevant, qualified practical experience of at least twelve months after completing a course of study qualifying for a profession.

Language Requirements

Proof of language qualification: current TOEFL score of at least 575 (paper-based), 232 (computer-based), 91 (internet based); IELTS Academic band 6.5 (minimum band of 6.0 is required for reading and writing). The burden of proof does not apply to applicants who have acquired their general or subject-linked higher education entrance qualification at a German institution.

To apply for the Master’s program “International Management & Information Systems – Online” please make sure you are in the right category as an applicant. You will be considered as an EU applicant if you have completed your Bachelor's degree at a German university, or you are nationals of European Union countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway.

On behalf of the Fachhochschule Südwestfalen, uni-assist checks whether the applicant complies with the formal requirements of the study programs. If an applicant is entitled to study and fulfill all the formal application requirements, uni-assist will forward their application to the university in electronic form. The university alone will then carry out the selection and admission process and issue letters of admission and rejection.

Important: As an international applicant, if you do not have a German address and you would like to receive an admission letter in advance by email, please fill in the Declaration of Consent and submit it together with your application documents at the uni-assist application portal.

EU Applicants & FH-SWF Applicants

Please use the FH SWF online portal to apply. After the application contact the IMIS Online office via email.

Required documents

Please submit officially authenticated copies of the following:

  • All academic certificates and transcripts with individual grades and CGPA.
    All transcripts must be accompanied by an explanation of the grading system. If your subject and grade summary does not include the applied grading system, please include information on the grading system used by your school or university as well.
  • School leaving certificate/higher education entrance qualification (Abitur, Baccalaureate, GCE) (Not required for FH SWF students/graduates)
  • English language certificate (TOEFL score 575/232/91 or IELTS band 6.5 [minimum band of 6.0 is required for reading and writing] is required)
  • A qualified job certificate or a certificate of your (prior) employer on business paper with the following content: name and address of employer, your full name, employment period, weekly time extend / weekly hours, job description and/or list of professional activities, date and signature.
  • Declaration consent (only if you would like to receive an admission letter in advance by email)
  • Additionally, you can submit a motivation letter and a current CV in the application.

Important: All certificates must be submitted as officially authenticated copies in the original language and sworn translation form in German or English language.
