Summary

South Westphalia is home to a wide range of companies working in light and building technology, a whole host of automotive suppliers and companies active in automation technology. The course is oriented towards regional industry and as such offers the students a solid starting point for their first steps in the field.

Energy
This field of application covers the generation, transmission and usage of electrical energy. Important elements include generators, engines, transformers and intelligent drive systems.

Light
Light is used in many technical applications. Considerable elements are the effect of light on people, the generation of artificial light and the measurement and evaluation of lighting systems.

Automation
Automation technology is aimed at optimising processes and procedures in terms of cost, security, environmental effect and efficacy. The focus is on the structure of automation systems, the processing of information and measuring and control technology.

Alongside theoretical training (basic mathematics and physics, basics of electrical engineering, electronics and information processing, teaching contents from application areas in automation systems, communication systems, lighting systems and energy systems), the students are also provided with knowledge and capabilities in areas such as work organisation, working in a team and project management. In addition, the basics of economics and marketing are also taught

Career prospects
Our graduates work in a wide range of fields researching, developing, operating and maintaining electrical engineering systems. This includes roles in the automotive industry, energy supply industry, automotive engineering, telecommunications, lighting sector and generally in the production industry to name but a few.
